Do you offer free estimates?

Yes. We come out, measure, mark gates and grade changes, talk through materials and township rules, and send a written quote. There’s no charge and no dispatch fee.

Do I need a permit for a fence in Pennsylvania?

Usually a local one. Pennsylvania’s Uniform Construction Code generally exempts fences 6 ft tall and under from a state building permit, but most townships and boroughs still require a zoning permit and set their own height, setback and front-yard rules. We prepare and submit the application and follow it through approval. See PA fence permits.

Do you call PA One Call before digging?

Yes. Pennsylvania law requires an 811 request at least 3 and no more than 10 business days before excavation, and that includes fence post holes. Utilities mark their public lines, but private lines usually aren’t marked: invisible dog fences, sprinklers, lines to sheds, pools or lamp posts, and septic. Please show us where yours run.

How long does installation take?

Most residential fences take one to three days on site. The bigger variable is the permit: review times differ by township, and we’ll tell you what to expect for yours when we quote.

What warranty do you offer?

Every installation includes the 76 Fence Platinum Protection Plan, a 76-month workmanship warranty. Materials also carry manufacturer warranties, which vary by product. We’ll show you the written warranty for what you choose.

Are you a registered Pennsylvania contractor?

Yes. 76 Fence MontCo is registered with the Pennsylvania Attorney General under the Home Improvement Consumer Protection Act; registration T002924 (temporary). You can look up any contractor at hic.attorneygeneral.gov.

What should my contract include?

Pennsylvania’s Home Improvement Consumer Protection Act requires a written, signed contract for home improvement jobs over $500. It must show the contractor’s registration number, the total price, estimated start and completion dates, and a description of the work. You also have the right to cancel within three business days of signing. The Attorney General’s guidance is that a deposit of about one-third of the price, plus the cost of any special-order materials, is appropriate.

How deep do you set fence posts?

Below your municipality’s frost depth, which is commonly 36 inches in Montgomery and Berks County townships. Posts are set in concrete, and gate posts go deeper and wider because they carry the most load.

Which side of the fence faces my neighbor?

The finished side, with posts and rails on your side. Many local codes require it, including Lansdale, Montgomery Township, Upper Dublin, Cheltenham, Pottstown and Upper Hanover, so we install that way by default.

Can the fence go right on my property line?

It depends on the township. Some want the fence just inside the line, and Upper Hanover requires 1 ft unless your neighbors agree in writing. Fences also can’t sit in the road right-of-way. If you have a survey or plot plan, share it with us. If your line is unclear, we’ll recommend confirming it before anyone digs.

Do you need my HOA’s approval?

If you have an HOA, get its approval before we order materials. We’ll provide the style, height, color and layout details most architectural review committees ask for.

Can you remove my old fence?

Yes. Removal and haul-away can be added to your quote as its own line, so you can see exactly what it costs.

Do you offer financing?

Yes, financing is available on approved credit, so you can spread the cost over time. Ask when we quote, or use the financing link on our contact page.

Do you repair fences you didn’t install?

In most cases, yes: leaning posts, broken rails and pickets, sagging gates, and damaged vinyl panels or chain link fabric. If a repair would cost close to a new section, we’ll tell you.
