Where aluminum shines
- Front yards: open styles fit the height and “open fence” limits many townships set for front yards.
- Pools: pool-code panels with narrow picket spacing and self-closing, self-latching gates.
- Slopes: rackable panels follow the ground instead of stair-stepping.
- Pets: puppy-picket bottoms close up the lower spacing for small dogs.
Heights and styles
Common heights are 4, 5 and 6 ft in flat-top, spear-top and finial styles, with 2- or 3-rail designs. Powder-coated finishes, usually black, won’t rust and need only an occasional rinse.
Local notes for Pottstown & the Perkiomen Valley
- Aluminum is a clean fit for the 4 ft front-yard limits in New Hanover, Amity and Lower Salford. Lower Salford also requires front-yard fences to be at least 50% open, which aluminum easily meets.
- In Pottstown Borough residential areas, front-yard fences are limited to 4 ft picket style; an aluminum picket design fits that.
